Doing this blog post, reminds me that this could probably be the last time I’m writing a post. I mean, come on, how many people will continue blogging if not for academic purposes? This weekly journal, if you may call it that, has definitely inspired me to continue blogging however I fear religiously posting will soon become a thing of the past.

It’s also got me wondering. What school would be like once everyone’s back from the break. I can say that it will not be the same. If it’s any consolation, the storytelling class has been the most enjoyable class so far. And I did only mention storytelling because storyboarding may not be so enjoyable but keeping an open mind will definitely help.

It’s getting late and I’m tired. Hope this doesn’t affect my attendance in class tomorrow.

Went to watch the movie preview of Ghostwriters at Shaw Centre Level 13. How awesome?

Here’s a little something about the movie:

Staring: Ewan McGregor , Pierce Brosnan, Kim Cattrall, Tom Wilkinson, Olivia Williams.

I was late for the movie but I still managed to catch most of it to get the idea. The movie was intriguing and entertaining, it really kept me wanting to know more about the plot and I think it did a good job of capturing my attention. Although I have to say, there were portions of the movie that were pure conversations that almost put me to sleep but these scenes were necessary. The ending was interesting and i definitely recommend catching this movie. UNLESS, you’re a typical singaporean that likes to find faults in movies and doesn’t like to think much and then complains that the movie is boring. Then I’m unequivocally certain you will not like this. It wasn’t drop dead amazing but it was a good 2 hours or so spent.

If I had to rate this movie, I’d give it a 4/5. I might be wrong though because I haven’t seen such a movie in a long time so it was a good one for me.

I know this is a rather short post but there’s been nothing really interesting to post and things that I want to post aren’t allowed so the post ends thus far.

I thought I’d post differently this week. Well my intention to do a post today came from a dream I had last night. Well, it wasn’t a dream if you asked me more like a nightmare due to the ending but i wasn’t really scared shitless when i awoke. I was more pissed off that i couldn’t really fall back asleep and thanks to my experience of staying up REALLY late during the holidays I knew it was 5-ish… See, staying up does have it’s benefits.

So the content of the dream shall not be revealed only the ending.

The hallway is dark, I have no idea how i can still manage to see. I follow a tall, old and balding man through before i turn right to open a door. As I pull open the door, my eyes focus upward at the flicker light bulbs do before it fully lights up. The door is partially open when this eerie scream with some sort of reverb plays and this grey looking figure reaches out a hand and grabs my leg. I wake up.

As i lay in bed waiting for fall back into slumber, I get an epiphany, if you can call it that. I imagine that the idea of Visual Effects in movies or whatever form of Video is to make the character into a ghost? An idea is imagine a ghost warps toward you. In Visual Effects terms it would be some sort of teleport like in the movie Jumper. Things like that.. But forgive me if this seems a little weird, I thought about it for 5 minutes before i fell back asleep.

On another note, I watched Iron Man 2 today. If you asked me, it’s another one of those mindless movies that are captivating because of EVERYTHING except the storyline. I know I probably shouldn’t be criticizing the storyline because I am , after all, doing this blog post for Storyboard & Storytelling class. However, it proves that there can be good movies that have meaningless story-lines. Apart from that, the movie really fueled a greater interest in the course. How awesome would it be to be part of a movie such as Iron Man. I know that by the end of my 3 years in NP that i would not be able to create effects of that calibre but that’s why there’s always a next level. Hopefully this is my calling. If anyone was to ask me now what I would like to specialize in now? I’d definitely say movie effects. That’s what TRULY, MADLY, DEEPLY has got my attention.

See how i used that savage garden song in there? Yep, I totally intended for that.

To those that actually bothered to read all the way to the end, here’s wishing you a good week ahead and curse that we do not have labour day holiday today? Come on, polytechnic teachers need breaks too. Yes, those who didn’t read to the end, probably didn’t see my well wishes and if you skipped to the end, they do not apply to you.

The two finally get to Keola’s bus stop. “What bus are you taking?” Caleb asks.

“174. Bro, just go i can get home” Keola slurs to Caleb.

They wait for about five minutes. No bus number 174 comes.. something seems wrong and it’s already getting late. Caleb walks over to the bus signs and realizes bus 174 doesn’t come to that bus stop.

“Bro! 174 doesn’t come here. I thought you said you were taking bus from this stop!” Caleb says to Keola the alcohol getting to his head.

“I didn’t say that” Keola manages to say out loud.

Caleb aids Keola back on his feet and takes Keola to the bus stop Caleb was going to wait for his bus. When they reach Caleb’s bus stop, the seats are so badly manufactured, Keola almost drops his laptop and collapses on the ground. Caleb walks over and to his relief, 174 does come by. The friends wait for close to 15mins before 174 comes. Caleb watches Keola get on the bus and knocks out on the seats. Caleb chases him on and the bus driver drives off. Caleb gives Keola three slaps across his face but the alcohol has clearly overwhelmed him. Caleb runs over to the bus driver and notifies him to wake Keola up at King Albert Park stop. Hoping all goes well, Caleb presses the stop button and alights the bus. Caleb stands at the bus stop and watches a motionless Keola pass as the bus drives off.

An anxious Caleb calls Wayne, another close friend that knows Keola that was at the pub earlier as well. Caleb lets wayne know about Keola’s situation and beseeches Wayne to keep track of Keola somehow over the cell. Sadly for Caleb, the bus stop that he gets off at is not one that his bus stops. Luckily Caleb is familiar with the area and makes his way over to his bus stop. Lightheaded and blur, Caleb makes out the bright orange lights that get brighter and nearer. The numbers seem to form a 145 and Caleb gets on.

Caleb pulls out his phone and plugs in his earphones. Relying on the guitar,bass, drums and vocals of Metallica to keep him awake and get him home.

Caleb gets home, the high still infecting his every thought and movement. It takes about an hour and a half for him to get to bed.

If you are really intrigued by the story, then you might get to hear some of it in class tomorrow. Yes, this is really last minute.
