Story One.

Shawn hits Dawn but she just stays down. Dawn’s long dark hair wet with sweat from her pores smothers her face. Shawn’s in a drunken rage again. Dawn picks herself off the cold floor, picks up Shawn’s bottle of liquor and smashes him on the head. She smiles to herself.

Story Two.

James stares Dave square in the eye and says, “Dave! You’re out of the band”. Dave pushes James back and points his finger in his face. “You’ll regret this!” Dave explodes. Dave turns a full 180 degrees and stomps across the room giving deadly glares to everyone in the vicinity.

Story Three.

Winston stands on the ledge, suicide his only redemption. He slowly closes his eyelids while the dismal memories flash back through his mind. Winston spreads his arms out beside him as if ready to take flight. The roof’s doors fly open and a determined firefighter yanks Winston off the ledge.

Story Four.

Lydia covers her nose and mouth as she swipes away the dust that has settled on the top of a huge wooden trunk. She finds a old magazine with her mother on the cover. “Mom!” she yells. Debra looks up to the ceiling and mouths to herself, “she found it”.

Story Five.

Pierre picks up an apron and ties it tightly around his waist. He prepares to cook French cuisine for the entire family. This is the first attempt. He whips up a passable meal that satisfies all the relatives’ taste buds. Pierre proves himself to the family and learns to cook.
